Junior Leadership Cumberland
The program consists of an orientation/opening retreat, six day-long sessions from October through April (excluding January), a weekend community service project, and a breakfast graduation ceremony held in either April or May. Students will work with community and business leaders during the six-day-long sessions. Each monthly session will have a different topic and will start promptly at 8:00 am and end at 2:30 pm.
Attendance- JLC meets monthly in October, November, December, February, March, and April. Attending all sessions, including orientation and the weekend community service event, is mandatory and a requirement to graduate.
Participation and Engagement – It is important to offer our respect to our community leaders and hosts by actively participating during each session. Not only does it help you learn, but it provides an opportunity to network and engage with other students and leaders who could turn into future employers.
Advocate – JLC exists because of your predecessors and school counselors. Assist them by talking to your underclassmen and your fellow classmates is a way to build comradery, kinship, and to grow the program for future years. Graduates of the program will become members of our JLC Alumni Network.
Dress Code – Presenting yourself in business casual attire is required. Jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, dresses shorter than fingertip length, cut-off slacks, and shorts are all considered unacceptable attire.
